Carreg Cennen Castle & Farm
Carreg Cennen Castle is one of the few remaining privately owned Castles in Wales. Spell-binding views are waiting to be experienced from the sharp hilltop upon which the castle sits. Indeed, Carreg Cennen Castle dominates its surroundings, and seems out of place in the mountainous farming terrain which it commands. The hedgerows along the minor approach road initially obscure views of the site, but suddenly the grey stone fortress springs into your line of sight, enticing you to hurry onwards. Cycling in the Tywi Valley
The relatively flat Tywi Valley soon starts to buckle and burst into life as the Brecon Beacons make their presence felt, east of Llandeilo.
As the valley skirts the western side of the Brecon Beacons and then snakes its way lazily towards Carmarthen, you can follow the path of the river from Llandeilo and you’re gifted with views that are normally reserved for Arthurian legend. Imagine yourself in the role of an errant knight as your pedals spin you along the B4300 with the silver thread of the River Towy winding into the distance and Dryslwyn Castle rising out of the mist.
There are lush green valleys, mountain wilderness, stunning lakes, beautiful gardens and fantastic food available at farmers markets in Carmarthen, Llanelli and Llandovery. Cycling heaven. Dan-yr-Ogof Showcaves
Situated at the head of the Swansea Valley, Dan yr Ogof is one of the finest and best preserved caves in South Wales. Scheduled as a National Nature Reserve, the cave is afforded a special level of protection under the Wildlife & Countryside Act (1981).
The first section of the cave is open to the public and is one of Wales' most popular tourist attractions - also recently voted "Britain's finest natural wonder". Beyond lie at least 17km of passage under the Black Mountain, much of it large and superbly decorated.
